Preserving Our Yesterday.......

The School was established in 1925-26. The renovation project began in 2015. In 2015, the town of St. George, SC, with Senator John Matthews Jr., Representative Patsy Knight, and the WMHS Alumni Association, began the renovation/preservation process for this historical institution. The renovation/preservation of the St. George Colored, aka Williams Memorial Rosenwald School, is the most significant undertaking in this community since the construction of this school in 1925-1926. St. George Rosenwald's seven-member School Board was assigned to oversee the development of this endeavor and determine its usefulness. The consensus is that these are some things that we have discussed and believe will be beneficial to the town of St. George and surrounding areas.
Inside the building will have the following:
Auditorium – will be available for scheduled community activities
Ed Ventrue Ed Venture will occupy the entire north side of the building with access to the auditorium
Authentic Class Room - One of the rooms will be restored to a classroom in the early to middle 1900s.
An Exhibit Room – Artifacts on display collected from former WMHS Alumni and the community
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
